Top Gear – No Idea

“A Top Gear hot tip…” the hilarious joke that spluttered out of James May’s mouth on the Monday night new episode of Top Gear in UK.  Jeremy had “hilariously” attached two pizza’s to Richard Hammond’s body and attempted to set the pizzas on fire.  Proving…Something or another.  In between the car sections the scripted vacuous laddish comedy spewed out by “The Three Amigos” has become so tired and bothersome I am at a loss at what to do when Top Gear appears on the guide.  How many years are they going to hammer home the same jokes.  “James is slow and old, Hammond is small and Clarkson is a petrol-headed towering alpha-oaf”.  Year after year series after series we are subjected to the same premises again and again and the public eat it up.  Where Top Gear still holds up is coverage of the cars and the actual reviews of new and interesting vehicles, and these guys do really love cars and appear to genuinely like each other.  In this area the show has ultimate credibility  but  in a world where podcasts about almost any subject you could possibly imagine are out there at the end of a Google search the very nature of show seems so outdated, also anyone with an I-Phone and a brain can now make a car review. The ability of the end user “You and Me” to search for mutiple opinions on a particular vehicle or indeed any subject far out ways the credulity of Jeremy Richard and James.
