The death of Phillip Seymore Hoffman was indeed very sad, for his family, friends and anyone who knew him. It was also a tragedy for the world of cinema because Hoffman was an immense character actor who although an Oscar winner still had many years to entertain millions of people, who knows where his next choices would have led him? If you’re a fan of cinema you will be aware of recent ‘PSH’ performances such as Doubt, The Master and Capote but it was in Almost Famous that I remember Hoffman most. He played “Lester Bangs” and although his screen time was limited to maybe three scenes his presence was felt through out the film.
