My Cat From Hell’s ‘Jackson Galaxy’ is the coolest Cat Whisperer I know. In fact he is the only Cat Whisperer I know! Thanks to Animal Planet’s ‘My Cat From Hell’ the world can worry less about un-happy cats and also their un-happy owners, as this “Musican by Night – Cat Guy by day” is sent into houses across the USA to re-organise the lives of the so called “Cat Guardians”. Yes in this show you don’t own a cat. Oh no no no no no no no. You’re the guardian of that furry little pussy, and if you ain’t doing it right? Jackson will appear at your door with a guitar case filled with cat-related paraphernalia, ready to get right down to work. The general shtick goes like this: The owner can’t control the cat, or maybe he or she is living in a way that effects the cat’s general demeanor. For example, not playing with the cat enough, not giving the cat its own specific space or it’s own “catio”, (yes, that’s a thing). Then after a week or two with Jackson’s instructions followed to the letter the cat emerges with an almost completely new personality. What is genuinely interesting is Jackson Galaxy’s ability to read these animals like a book. He also genuinely cares for every single cat on earth, often breaking down into tears at the mere mention of a cat in distress. For me it is this love and devotion to our feline friends that really carries the show. At the program’s outset the “Cat Guardians” are always in dis pare, what can we do? They collectively cry. I am yet to see an episode where Mr Galaxy hasn’t been able to sooth the situation at hand. The whole set up is predictable, but I am some how drawn in by Jackson’s achingly sad eyes. Maybe like old cat ladies of yore, he too is partner-less and re-placing “Cat Love” with “Human Love”? Who Knows? Although the show is fronted splendidly by Jackson and if I have to comment at all, it is far from a catastrophe…….I am sorry I’m a hack – I’m sorry, puns are like cat-nip to me………OMG!
