Give It 2 U – Robin Thicke

One You Tube comment reads “You hear it once: Fuck this. You hear it twice: I love it!!”  After some careful consideration I am inclined to agree, I expected more from Robin Thicke especially after his collaboration with Pharrel.  But the more you listen the more you like, and yes it is a mess. A horrible mess of sound and expression as if Thicke indulged in narcotics at the library whilst reading the history of Rap and Marvin Gaye.  It will come as no surprise then that  “Blurred Lines” an almost carbon copy of Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give it Up”  has resulted in The Marvin Gaye family filing a lawsuit against Thicke and his co-writers.

Enough magic and production touches to bring this around to the acceptable current Pop high or low standard, depending on your persuasion, and the video is genuinely enjoyable.  Thicke gives it 2 us, but do we want it?
